Standing 125 feet tall and at more than 100,000 square feet, it’s the largest touring tent in the world. After a successful run in Atlanta and Miami, now Toronto welcomes Odysseo, the new show from Cavalia that marries equestrian arts, stage arts and high-tech theatrical effects at never-before-seen levels. The original Cavalia show has been touring for nine years, appearing in Toronto in 2003 and 2005 drawing record crowds and rave reviews. The Toronto premiere of the all-new Odysseo is May 15th.

WHAT: First peek under the world’s largest touring Big Top

WHO: Normand Latourelle, Cavalia’s Founder & Artistic Director and James Richardson, Technical Director will be available for interviews

WHEN: Monday, April 30, 2012 – 1pm

WHERE: The Port Lands – 324 Cherry Street, Toronto, ON

ABOUT THE WHITE BIG TOP:
To create Odysseo, Cavalia designed and built a unique White Big Top, two-and-a-quarter times the size of that used in the original, still-touring Cavalia show. As with Cavalia’s first tent, this Big Top was specifically created to accommodate the creators’ vision, allowing full artistic license, unhampered by space restrictions. In the Odysseo Big Top, none of the 2,290 spectators will have their views obstructed to the immense 27,000-square-foot stage and the effects created by the 80-ton technical grid. Instead for the first time in the history of Big Tops, innovative architects and engineers borrowed structurally from cathedral arches to open up the interior. Thus, Odysseo can accommodate even more in the way of equestrian arts, acrobatics, music, multimedia wizardry and special effects, the signature ingredients of a Cavalia show.

ABOUT ODYSSEO:
After its original production, Cavalia, captivated some 3.5 million spectators worldwide, founder and artistic director Normand Latourelle created Cavalia’s innovative new show, Odysseo. As friends, partners and inseparable performers on stage, 71 horses and 50 artists lead the viewer on a great journey to a world of dreams where, together, they discover some of the planet’s most unforgettable landscapes. With this new creation, Cavalia marries the equestrian arts, stage arts and high-tech theatrical effects at never-before-seen levels. The larger-than-life show, presented on the world’s largest touring stage under the planet’s largest touring big top, is a feast for the eyes that succeeds in delivering the spectacular with soul.
